Value for money Diesel Car

Afternoon All,

I currently drive a 06 1.4L Petrol VW Golf. I am contemplating changing to a diesel car but due to lack of knowledge of cars, Im stumped to find one of good value.

I am hoping to go to 2010/11 for an overall price of € 13k, wil naturally go bit more if the right car comes along.

Would anyone recommend a particular make / model?

Friend of mine suggested Hyundai i30

Second hand diesels of that vintage hold stronge resale values due to the fact that they are cheap to tax and tidy ones are thin on the ground.

The suggestion of the i30 is a good one and so is the Kia Ceed which is the sister car of the i30. You should also look at the Skoda Octavia which you should be familiar with as it uses alot of Golf parts.
