so guys which is best in a new build - DCV of HRV????

obviously the usual to be considered:

    install cost
    annual running cost
    maintenance
    performance

the system will be going into a "super insulated" house with realively good levels of airtightness (all windows and doors sealed up and airtight membrane upstairs). heating system is heatpump.

from my research to date it appears DCV is half the price of HRV.
will HRV recoup that additional install costs?

must admit - we love to open windows up duringa nice fresh day and air the house.

DCV is more suited to large open areas not dwellings with multiple small rooms.
HRV would be better in a dwelling IMO.

This has been debated here plenty times JD. Use the search engine a bit and there's a wealth of good threads on here. As a rule of thumb HRV in an airtight house or else go for DCV. For a new build it seems to be a no brainer to go airtight and thus HRV (IMHO).
