If you were in an accident, the other driver drove off, but you got their registration number, how would you get their insurance details?

What if the garda have been unable/unwilling to provide them?

You contact a solicitor who can make any lawful inquiries from the authorities.

Gardaí will not give out these details to you.

Thank you, how long would it take for your average solicitor to get this information?

This answered for you in #39 http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056823421

If your solicitor has not been able to do so in 2 months then give it to MIBI to sort out.

You could save money and give it straight to MIBI, state that you feel reg number xyz is uninsured, they'll quickly tell you that no company x insures it.

Actually just go here and follow the instructions

They did with me - to be fair they contacted they guy in the first instance.

I'd be reporting it to the guards if he drove off regardless tbh.

just go in and report it to the guards. your insurance company will expect you to do it anyway. the offence is hit and run. if you have the reg it is very easy for a garda to trace

The OP has done so in another thread from the same OP

"I got their reg and reported it to the garda but what do I do now? I'll see my doctor tomorrow just to make sure the neck pain and headache are just something minor, but is there anything else I should do? "
