Have some warning lights on that Ive been told mean i need to replace the steering angle sensor.... but this was by a mechanic not a dealer and the dealer wants me to take the car in to them to plug in the diagnostic machine......I think it just a money racket to be honest but just wondering does anyone know if these lights could be on for any other prob bar a steering angle sensor.
its a bmw 320d and the lights are brake light, flat tyre light and traction control light.

IIRC that steering angle sensor is often blamed but rarely at fault. You need a good diagnostic guy.

Stupidly by BMW, they allocated a shítload of faults to these lights, which means a number of things can throw these.

    Wheel speed sensor
    ABS sensor
    Steering angle sensor

Or, as I recently found out - tracking. Some of my suspension parts were damaged throwing out the tracking. Once they were replaced (and the tracking fixed itself), all lights went off.

Most common cause is a wheel speed sensor, however.

Great thanks for all the info

I would of said wheel alignment would be the most common cause of this on the bms

I have noticed a rubbing noise on and off on the front passenger wheel so maybe that is the problem.......if i get it sorted do the lights go off automatically or do i need to get it reset?
