Different styles not usually seen

So I'm thinking of getting a tattoo. Probably won't be until the summer but I want to be well researched.

I want something different that's going to stand out. I want a unique piece that is unusual and makes a statement but I want it to be more subtle than bright colours and rainbows everywhere. So far the two styles I really like are surrealism and 1920's art deco. Are there any more bold and unusual art styles like these two? Or even any famous artists or pieces that might be of interest? I want something that makes a statement and stands out but not too much, like I said, I want the effect to be subtle. I think if you know surrealism then you'll know what I mean. Something like the image below is what I had in mind

Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks, Luke
