Landlord won't sign Proof of Residence form for my Jobseekers claim

I am Irish and have applied for Jobseekers and was asked for my landlord's PRTB number. I told them he does not have one as he lives in the house. Social Welfare inspector said she doesn't believe me that the landlord lives in the house and started asking me about the landlord's sister who may jointly own the house-but I am unsure of this.

Social Welfare gave me a standard form just looking for the landlord to state his name, me as a tenant and the names of the other tenants. I gave this to the landlord who nearly had a breakdown and said he doesn't sign forms.

If the landlord doesn't sign the form, does this mean that I don't get my dole from when I first lodged my claim- end of September? What else could I give as proof of residence?None of the bills are in my name.

Your landlord may be ripping off someone,if he don't want the welfare to know your there if he's claiming something an not declaring your income to the house might cost him...generally once you sort everything be it move out you be backdated to when u applied just tell them everything especially if the landlord won't play ball

It doesnt really matter what your LL motives are, he won't sign it, and he doesn't have to. I presume you are not planning on applying for RA.

Does your bank statements go to your address? Do you have a lease?

when you apply for anything you need to have some papers in place, don't go renting from unregistered owner occupiers because if you try to get the dole or a college grant or medical card or anything they are going to want proof of address. if you don't have a lease or some bank statements at least like the previous poster suggested, you're going to have problems getting anything sorted. if the landlord won't sign you could at least give them the lease or statements and his phone number and have them investigate... but guess what? an owner occupier can throw someone out without the proper notice period under tenant's rights, and if there isn't any lease he could put your stuff out on the front doorstep any time he wants... so that means that having no proof of tenancy can lead to your claim being denied, and also means there is no way you can put him under any obligation to sign or do anything. an unregistered owner occupier will often give you a better deal on rent which i know seems handy when you are unemployed and need to save your euros, but sure why wouldn't they, tax-free income for them, while you have pretty much no rights in this situation.

check out the threshold website and look it up, in the tenancies act.

i hope you get your dole sorted. if you decide to stay in the house get some kind of a bill going to the house regularly, including bank statements.

If he owns the house and is living there with you, he would not have a PRTB number that type of arrangement is not registrable with the PRTB. Additionally, up to approx EUR10k per annum would be tax free under rent a room scheme. His horror at signing forms is another matter....

If he's living in the house he has no obligation to register with PRTB or sign forms. If he's not living in the house you're creating huge headaches for him!
