    Another Fixie question. :)

I am looking at several options on Ebay for a replacement set of forks for a 21 1/2" 531 DB road frame with 1" headstock.

    What would one recommend?

    Steel of Carbon fiber?

Also would a threaded head stock be better than a plane one?.

Totally depends on 1. the look you're going for and 2. It's purpose.

I've done both. Recently put a carbon fork on a mid 80's steel frame that i'm building as a lightweight club spin performance orientated machine and it looks and feels great. That said if I was just using it to lash around town I'd go for a steel fork in the appropriate colour.

threading wise if you go threadless it gives you plenty of options to customise your bar and stem set up but. Threaded and you can keep the classic quill stem and bars combo.

I am finding it virtually impossible to pick up an original 531 fork set, most that I have come across are 22 1/2. The other option is to take a set of 21 1/2 ordinary set of steel forks off an old Carlton Continental.

I like the idea of customizing the bar stem option rather than quill as there are some very tasty designer components out there.
