jobseeker's Benefit question

i am hoping somebody with experience with social welfare can help me with this one
i am working 6 hours a week, over 3 days and was claiming jobseeker's benefit to supplement this. i handed in all revelant documentation into the social welfare as they requested it back in september including a letter from my principal stating that i only 3 days a week.
there are a few part timers on staff so any extra substitution was given to me on my 3 days and i have never been called in the other 2 days as the DP does his best to share it out with everybody.
the pay is low enough and to be honest, its a struggle to meet the mortgage, childcare, household bills etc on this low wage - my husband also only works 3 days a week.
my problem is i arrived home today to a letter in the post from social welfare stating that my JSB is being cut off as i'm earning a wage payable 'over the week' - this all stems i think from a letter last week asking me to fill in 'stencils' for my holiday pay. i am rpt so will be paid for the 3 days over the holiday period . payroll send in a fax last week stating that i am rpt and that i work 6 hours 'a week' (they did not make clear this is a 3 day week but i didn't think it was an issue as i previously handed in aforementioned letter from principal).
so am i entitled to JSB to supplement my 3day a week or not?
just wondering what other teachers out there think / have experience with? my other half is adament i am entitled to it and the other worry i have is, if i am not, do i now have to repay all JSB payment issued to me since sept? i don't have that kind of money - esp not 2 weeks before xmas.
i'm freaking out all evening worrying bout this :(

    hi there
i have gotten social welfare when off for the holidays with no pay but that's a bit different from your situation.
i do remember one year i was paid for 5 hours over the summer but when i went to sign on i couldn't because the 5 hours were over 4 days (one 30min class on a wed pushed me over) and i swore never to get caught again - but at the time they were processing it for me till they copped the 4 days ( i had thought because the hours were so small i'd be entitled to claim but no) so i would think you should be entitled to payment for the 3 days.
check with them again - ask to speak somebody different because i often get different stories about requirements/entitlements when i speak to different people in my sw office so someone else may be more helpful.

Jobseekers is based over 6 days if you work 3 days you are entitled to 3 days jobseekers if you work 4 days you are entitled to nothing. Have you sufficient prsi contributions? If so it is benefit (you will get it) if not it will be allowance and is
Means tested so your other halfs income is taken into consideration. If you do get it you must fill out these cards for each week with your hours worked and post them back to social welfare.

    thanks millem
i am only working 3 days and thought i would be entitled to the JSB - as indicated since i have been receiving payment since sept but all of a sudden i go that letter this week saying it was cut off. my prsi contributions are fine. that is not why they cut me. i am still awaiting a phone call back from them but i was told over the phone i am not the only one having this problem :(
