It should, although bouncers do not have to admit everyone who has ID.
Anyway, you should bring licence and not passport all the time!

i know they have the right to refuse but some ppl saying they dont accept the provisionals , but it has a pic and a DOB so surly they would have to

The reason they dont accept them is because they are so easy to fake.

    what club you going to
    if your in dublin
and going to one in town i can certainly tell you which places dont take it

Sin doesnt ( prick of an english bouncer )
    Playnightclub doesnt
plaza in tallaght does and it doesnt depends who is on that night

not to sure about other places
i also know wrights club doesnt either
but if your stuck , go to a pub

most reasons why their not accepted is, their easy to fake and lose
most bouncers dont want the hassle of fights breaking out over a lost DL
(youd be surprised how many moaners their are out their) :L

id say nearly any place in temple bar would take ya though

Provisional Drivers License won't work on the basis that they are not provided anymore and would be several years out of date.

they are provided, you get the forms in a garda station and go to the local tax office, you need a provisional when your a learner

I use my Provisional as ID, and I've never been refused from any club in Dublin because of it. Last week I was heading in to Diceys and the bouncer asked if I had anything else...just showed him my student card and it was all good. That's the only time its ever been questioned though!

    It's not a provisional license, don't think it's been since 2008.

yeah, they work. i have been using mine for ages since i broke my age card in two.

I woke up 2 weeks ago with my age card in 2 pieces beside my bed, no idea how it happened. I've been using my drivers license since and it works fine. Mine is a full license though not provisional.

I broke mine a bit and managed to put it back together so its possible until you get a new one!

Would local Garda write you a letter to explain?
Some clubs won't accept them because as others have said they're too easy to fake!
But if you had a letter and maybe another form if id maybe a student card they should definitely let you in! Just be sober/act sober!
If your going village there's a door on the right after entering that's the downstairs part of it! You can sneak in that way without paying once you're past the bouncers!:D

Most clubs say only government ID is accepted (passports and age cards). But it's worth a try, you've nothing to lose.
