Hey, I will be travelling to America in the next few weeks and staying for 3 weeks. I am wondering does anyone know what are my options for using my mobile phone over there. I will not have access to Wi-Fi either so using services like Skype or Viber is not an option.

    Thanks in advance.

    Is your phone unlocked?

If so what type of phone is it? And where are you going?

My misses travels regularly to the US and has a simple mobile sim card she uses when there. You need to have a unlocked phone though.

    1. No the phone is not unlocked but I believe I have spent enough credit to be entitled to unlock it by ringing them (Three)

    2. The phone is a Galaxy S III & I am going to Northern California

Is it that she bought a sim card over there? Like a pre pay one?

Yeah it's a pre pay card. The simple mobile sim card costs 13 dollars (no free sims on US networks) and a 1 month unlimited plan is 40 dollars. That includes unlimited US calls, US & international texts and unlimited 3g data. The misses always travels to NY so can't offer any advice on where to buy, but don't let them overcharge you - one guy tried to charge 37 bucks for just the sim!

Simple mobile use the T-Mobile network so plenty of coverage in Northern California.
