So...iv somewhere between two & three grand burning a hole in my pocket and a few options in mind...

But If you were going to buy a bike in the morning in that budget...what would it be?

    Or would you build....?

Add an extra grand to it through bike to work if I could and bike something I'd never afford otherwise.

I'd def not buy anything with as lowly spec as 105 :P

Definitely a self build.....discounted 2012 high end frame and forks, campag chorus, handbuilt wheels, nice finishing kit....mmmmm!

Planet X SL Pro Ca..... oh, hang on.

Hard to know what to do. Where are all these discounted high end frames and groupsets on offer? Campag isn't going to be an option for you if you want to retain compatibility of cassettes and wheels between a new bike and your Kuota.

I know you've been looking at Cervélos online, what else is floating your boat? Scott Addict or Foil, Cannondale SuperSix, Storcks, Looks? RoseBikes do a fantastic Canyon rivalling deal with their Xeon CRS for a little over €2k - full Ultegra, 6.8kg, very stiff, very racey, but it's lacks a certain Sunday best, café-stop bling quality. And while that's not all that important, we all know that in reality you need to love how it looks too.

BTW at this price-point as mentioned above? Hardly worth your while, it's only an extra 500 quid. That's not going to be the difference between the bike you get and the 'one that got away'. Obviously, if you can avail of it, do.

Ribble R872 with a Sram Force Groupset and Fulcrum Racing Zero's for €2600.22 (+€40 for Ultegra 6700 if Shimano's your fancy).

I happen to really like that frame shape though, I think it's kinda sexy.

With three grand, I'd be torn between a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 7, or a Van Nicholas Chinook

Im leaning towards building to be honest. Give myself 3 or 4 months to pick up the various parts, and will give me the possibility of stretching the budget out a bit too!!

Yeah been looking at some 2012 frames & bikes from Cervélo, Argon 18, Colnago, Canyon and Cannondale or Wilier, and il probably stick with Shimano, unless the deals on campag are very...very good!!!

I'm hoping to be in your position this time next year and I'd dearly love to be able to get a Felt AR4 even if it meant buying a 2012 bike.

If I was going to buy a bike for €3k this morning, a custom painted YT Tues would be it.

Those YT's are just amazing value. I don't know, how they do it at the price.
Nukeproof seem to be the only ones, who can come close.
