Company won't pay for work done - Small Claims Court?

    Hi all,

Did a bit of work for a company who now are choosing to not pay me. (I'm a photographer and covered things for them).

Just wondering, is this a case for the small claims court or is there a different avenue I should take here?

Figure is relatively minor (approx €125).

Anyone got any idea. Don't fancy letting them away with it.

    Cheers. :)

Small claims court does not deal with debt cases. You would have to go to the District Court.

I thought it was the Small claims court for anything involving a situation where the claim doesn't exceed €5,000?

How does one go about involving the district court, then?

The small claims court deals with consumer claims up to the value of €2,000.

Check the District Court rules for the procedure.

They make it awkward enough, don't they? :p

I don't suppose anyone could explain, in layman's terms, the quickest/easiest way of getting this issue sorted, so? Or what my first point of contact is/should be?

Flicking through that link seems to explain how the process works (Discovery of documents, etc.) but can't see where it says or explains how to actually get the ball rolling at all or what the first move should be on my end (ie; who do I contact first)?

I appreciate your replies, Milk and Honey.

    Cheers Ken.

Still doesn't seem to say how to get things moving (but does give a "for more information" phone number. Looks like I'll have to ring that).

Does anyone know the costs involved here by any chance, or how long it generally takes for a case to be heard/ruled on?

Apologies if this is fairly obvious stuff, but can't seem to find that info on the above links.

    :)

Now they're saying that they'll pay on Friday. Will just leave the court thing for the moment until I see how Friday goes.

Pain in the ass. Cheers for all the help so far guys. I'll let ye know how I get on.
