    Hi all,

I've had my focus for about 2 years now but i never got my iPod connected up.

There is an aux option on my radio but no connection for my iPod anywhere.

Yes i check the glove compartment and there's none in there either.

Anyone know how much it would be to get it connected up?

I'm not really interested in using one of them Radio station tuner devices.

    Would prefer good sound.

Would appreciate anyone who could help.

    Thanks.
    Eric

New head unit would be the best way tbh, same boat here and for a 07 car it's a pain

Most straight forward way, buy this:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-6000-CD-AUX-IN-CABLE-FOR-MP3-iPOD-iPHONE-HTC-iPAD-ADAPTOR-LEAD-FREE-PINS-/150869209172?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2320817054

Use the stereo removal keys included and plug the cable in to the AUX port on the back of the stereo. Feed the cable down and bring it through either where the cigarette lighter compartment is, or else pop out one of the blank plates where the rear window demister/heated windscreen etc.. is, or else drill a hole in one and feed it through there.

(You might find the same cable cheaper on eBay, I just linked to the first one as it was handy. :)

I bought a second hand 06 focus about a month ago and asked the dealer about this, he said he'd look after it for me with the sale, and that it's normally €50 to get it done. That was in Harmonstown Motors.

bought just such a cable from ebay for a 2007 focus with the facelift interior, so the radio doesnt use keys but you must take off the panel first and then screw it loose.

one word of warning, the plug that connects to the back of the radio in my case was actually the wrong shape.
Theres a little jutty out bit and when i fitted it it would only go onto what turned out to be the block meant for the controls on the steering wheel. Unfortunately I ended up frazzling the headphone jack of my ipod touch (fixable though by getting a headphone amp, but anyhow...)
Using a swiss army knife i peared the socket into shape and it fitted then no bother onto the correct side of the radio.
Aside from all that messing, pulling the front panel off to access the radio was also far from easy and to be honest I could have damaged the panel

Before I attacked the aux in cable, i had to remove a block of cables already connected to the back of the radio.
I am pretty sure they go to the rear of the glove cabinet as theres a load of loose cables there not attached to anything. I saw something about this on the web but cant find it now which is why I was looking!
If someone had a proper manual then maybe they could confirm this and all you would need would be to find the appropriate cable behind the glove box and attach a 3.5mm socket to it which would be far less messing.

EDIT: this is pretty much what I bought as an aux in cable which is about 10euro incl postage:

You say there is an aux connection on the head unit, save yourself a few bob and pick up and male to male aux cable. Plug one end into the iPod and the other into the head unit. You don't need anything special to connect an iPod to a head unit an aux jack will do just fine, I've been doing it for years, sound quality is great too.

He has an AUX button, on the head unit... and there is no connection for it in the glovebox where it would be if it was there. You need to read the OP a little more carefully. ;)

OP: Hal has given probably the best link you'll get. As long as your car is a Pre-Facelift, that will work perfectly.

Ah apologies. Quite stupid having an aux button and no jack, oh well.

are you sure there is no aux connection in yours when i bought my 05 mondeo it had a aux button on the radio didnt have a clue where the connection was, then i found out that thet were located in the glovebox i looked and couldnt see one, after reading up a bit more about them i found it was at the very back of the glove box with a dark silver o-ring around it
