New crack in chimney breast

I have a stove in my kitchen which I never used much. Yesterday I used it to heat the back boilder and built up a really hot fire in it. I heard a crack but put it down to wood or coal making noise. Today I noticed that there is a crack running up the chimney breast up to the ceiling and accross the ceiling. the coving is also cracked. The fireplace in my sitting room also has a new crack and the walls were hot. Upstairs the walls where the chimney runs were hot too.
    Am I in big trouble?

Sounds like you may have had some secondary combustion in the chimney, this is where the smoke from the fire also burns. This should normally happen in the firebox but can go up the chimney if the fire is overloaded.

Are you in trouble, depends on whether the flue liner cracked as well.

You may get someone to stick a camera down the flue and see what's going on.
