    Hi all,

That time of the year again when I buy the owl bike an xmas present :)

I am hoping to get into racing this year and also increase the number of Sportive's i do. So I am looking for a decent set that will do me for A4 racing and quite possibly a few more enduring Sportive's this year.I have been considering a set of carbon wheels from Hong-fu. Have a frame from them and I think it's great. I don't know if these would do for anything outside or racing though?

My weight is 90kg hoping to come down to 80kg by April / May if that help with selection.

Max budget to my front door is €500 and I am on a sram groupo.

All help here is exceptionally appreciated.

No experience with Hong-fu but they look nice. Do a search on the forum cos this topic comes up regularly and a few posters recommend Planet X (in Athlone I think. Also don't be afriad to look at some German bike sites like discount-bike and Jedisports. They have some great deals and no customs/duty/VAT to worry about as you would for Hong-fu.

I'd recommend you a set of Fulcrum Racing 3's on Jedisports €375 plus shipping but I'm bias towards Fulcrum :) Tough as nails and look the biz IMO. Spend the rest on GP4000s tyres.

    You're exceptionally welcome.

    Thanks for the reply.

I will check them out. Am I bring a bit hopeful thinking there is a set of wheels suited to racing and sportive's?

You can do both on any wheels. A year ago I was chossing between Fulcrum Zero's and Mavic Cosmics and went for the Zero's in the end as I thought it was a better all round wheel. Shimano Dura Ace like these C24's also are well respected and a good all round wheel too.
