    From the Galway Independent:
An informal pathway regularly used by NUI Galway students is to be converted into a new pedestrian and cycling ramp under new plans from Galway City Council........................ The Part VIII motion sought permission for a new pedestrian and cyclist ramp and steps on the north side of the N6 to the Dyke Road, as well as the fitting of new cycle rails to the existing steps on the south side of the road.
I presume the ramp to connect Dyke Road and the Quincentenary Bridge will be built in this green area?

It will make commuting from Terryland to campus even easier :)

Thats correct. Also NUIG plans to put in steps close to the Kingfisher GYM on the South Side of the road.

I noticed a mini-digger here clearing away some trees and scrubs this morning. Is that the location on the south side?

Hopefully it will take less time than it did to put in the steps on the North side beside the Kingfisher.

It always struck me as almost pointless that the steps up to it were on opposite sides of the bridge.

Hope they're not too long getting this done, glad it's happening.

It's to save the hundreds of students from the students residences on the far side of the bridge having to cross the road...

It can be hard to not confuse this, my issue with it was that you would have to go up one set of steps, cross the bridge (which even if quiet, would be reckless), to go down the other steps. Sorry if that was what you were getting at.

At least this way it should get more use and be safer than the paths up beside Terryland Castle.

Ah, you're talking about a different set of steps. Apologies.
