Hi there, I'm looking to install a wired alarm system. Was considering Irish Alarms. Does anyone have any feedback on them or any other alarm company?? Any recommendations? I don't want to pay a monthly monitoring charge so I'm looking for a system which calls us if the alarm goes off. All info appreciated.

    Thanks

Can't comment on the Co mentioned, but you should reconsider having the Alarm monitored.
If activated the Monitoring station will notify Gardai, who will attend. In addition they will ring Key-holders who can also attend
If it just rings you, what can you do if away from the house, if you ring Gardai, they may not attend.

In addition if you have smoke/CO2 detectors, Monitoring Co will notify Fire Brigade.

If you have a panic button in the house, and its activated, Monitoring Co will notify Gardai, someone in peril, every Garda car in area will attend.

One final service, its possible to also have a Medical alert signal, in that case they ring an Ambulance

Not quite correct. On the activation of a second device within a timeframe they will contact the Gardai if they managed to get hold of a Keyholder who has agreed to turn up.
    who will attend.
May attend. They do not make a commitment to attend in every case just because a monitored alarm is going off.
This is all explained in the Garda Policy on Monitored Alarms.
In addition they will ring Key-holders who can also attend
The alternative is to have a self monitored alarm ring the key holders directly.

There are advantages to having a monitored alarm however if someone is going to pay for a service such as this they should understand exactly what they are getting for their hard earned cash. In my experience people often believe that they are getting far more protection than they are. In addition many monitored alarms are installed in such an insecure manner that thieves with no technical expertise can prevent the alarms communicating with the monitoring station with ease. Thankfully there are also some very competent alarm installers out there too.
