Morning drivers antics

Walking past a long line of traffic this morning, I'm flabbergasted at the amount of people not concentrating on their driving.

There's the numerous drivers on their mobile phones (get a flipping hands free kit or Bluetooth! )

Then the ones blinded by the morning sun, that don't pull down their visor or put on sunglasses and seem to think that their hand will block the sun.

There's drivers who don't defrost their windscreens are are literally driving in a fog.

I've seen a handful of parents leaning over backwards when driving trying to feed their kids and veering across the road, as well as the 2 people I've seen actually eating their breakfast from a bowl( couldn't see what cereal they had though!)

Finally one woman nearly drove through a red light, skidding past the stop line at the junction. She was too busy putting on her eyeliner. I'd hate to see what the finished look was.

DRIVERS get up 5 minutes earlier and do all this crap before you go out driving!

and what about the Pedestrians ???

I see numerous amount of people each morning with their headphones on lost in their music not paying attention to road and nearly getting run over.
Or the ones who are to lost in conversation with their pal while sipping coffee, thinking they are to important to have to stand and wait for the green man.
others rushing across a busy road full of on coming traffic so they don't miss their bus

As for cyclists .... Not even gonna go there :rolleyes:

I know right !! also the guys that spend more time looking at what everyone else is doing other than watching the road, gets me everytime! cant have my tea in peace.

I have witnessed some stupid things on the roads but I have never, ever witnessed someone eating out of a bowl or putting on eye make up.

I do my eyeliner while eating my bowl of Crunchy Nut cornflakes (they taste too good) while defrosting my car while texting the wife all in the five minutes earlier that I get up.

I see women putting on make-up whilst driving on a regular basis, I actually saw one not move her car with the flow of the traffic a few weeks ago until she had finished her mascara. Drives me nuts.

I also really detest when I'm walking and the pedestrian light turns green, but I have to wait for all the cyclists to pass by. Grr.

Walking down Rathmines road this morning, a guy crossed the road and a car who was miles back and going slowly started beeping at him. When I turned to look at the car, all I could see was a frosty windscreen and as she drove past me (still beeping), she had her face pressed up against the windscreen trying to see through it.

im not a taxi driver.but i do know that they have a high safty standard.the cops have a very low safty standard.they cause more accidents than any taxi drivers.the amount of times ive seen the cops drive erratically with the siren on. just to get to the station.ive even seen it done just to get through the lites.

Never seen someone eating bowl of ceral but every morning i see people putting on make-up, once saw a guy reading a newspaper on the motorway. thought he was drunk comming home from an all nighter but was shocked to see him read the fookn paper, i let him know i wasn't impressed (by sending a txt)

True story ^^^ I could even see the milk in the bowl. I was thinking how late were these people and imaging the mess if they had to brake hard - rice crispies eveywhere or a mascara in the eye:eek:


And on the subject of pedestrians, what is it with the ones typing on their phones swaying all over the path. And as for the ones walking in groups , 3/4/5 people abreast on a path - move over! I used to enjoy playing red rover as a kid but didn't imagine I'd still be at it, trying to break through the line nowadays. I actually play the 'elbow' game when this happens. I've pointy out elbows somedays

P.S. I'm a pedestrian, cyclist and driver depending on the day, and I'm perfect!:D

Turn the car on a few minutes before you leave, about the time your doing your teeth or making your coffee.

When you get into the car, it should be warmed up and a nice happy journey in.

I just saw a motorist breaking a red light and almost hitting a pedestrian. Drove on too so he did. Happened just ten mins ago.

I got the reg tho and am reporting it to the gardai.

I still don't buy it. Whatever about eating a Sandwich or toast, but trying to balance a bowl, use a spoon & drive without destroying your clothes as well as the car with milk? I don't think it's worth the hassle. The smell of sour milk would turn your stomach.

Also there's a huge difference in putting on something like powder or lipstick or putting on mascara. It's virtually impossible to put on mascara unless you are stationary & relatively still.

I know there are dickhead drivers out there but some of the things I hear & the frequency that they are seen makes me wonder how true these stories are.

Yeah I made it all up.
I was speculating it was rice crispies as there is more milk soakage with cornflakes, branflakes, ready break etc :pac:

I'm guilty of this. I put on my make-up when stuck in traffic sometimes.

And yesterday morning I blowdried my hair by putting the heat up full blast and focusing the air at my head on either side. Sorry OP. Wont happen again.

My Mrs was given a hairdyer for xmas last year that plugs into the cigarette lighter port. Insane.
Anybody that spills milk on the seats in the car is in for a rude awakening. During the Celtic tiger years I actually sold my car as the smell was so bad after Milk spilt into the rear seats and footwells.

no can do ..........it was a personal theory, based on my consumption of various breakfast cereals ( eaten sitting at the table at home ) and I just finished off the last packet in my variety pack this morning.

Have to agree with you, I'm relatively new to driving ( driving one year) and only in the last few months making it daily in and out of my office in city centre. The morning is a bit mental alright.

As the op kinda eluded too, the amount of stuff people do that causes them to lose concentration is unreal. I think the height of my distractions are lighting a smoke, but I'd do that at a full stop at a red light.

I've seen woman applying makeup in their mirrors while driving busy inner city roads, I just literally take a double look at it.

I am one of those driver pricks, I eat cereal in the car while looking through 2 small holes I have carved out of the ice in my windscreen.

Quite frankly an extra 5 mins in bed is far more important than seeing cyclists or pedestrians.

I have never understood why the rules of the road aren't like Africa.

a car is bigger than and can kill a pedestrian or cyclist but guess what - you can't kill me with your crap mode of transport.

Saw a woman this morning on the m7 in a Toyota just after the m9 junction at 7:20 doing what looked like the warm up of her tyres like they do in F1.nope she was just using her phone. Seriously what the fcuk is so important at 7:20 am that you need to have your phone in your hand. These people should be shot.

I was behind a car at the lights one of the morning's recently and it started to roll back towards me. In a panic i gave a friendly beep ( if there is a such a thing ) and flashed my lights. The car managed to stop before it hit me and moved forward again until it started to roll back a second time :eek:. The van in the lane next to me beeped and rolled his window down and told he the driver was eating a bowl of cereal. Coming through Glasnevin one morning I saw a guy typing on his laptop which was sitting on the passenger seat. He was stopped in traffic at the time, but seriously, imagine being such a slave to your job (or whatever he was doing).
