Spider I.d

Was out back garden and I threw some water on the wall and out crawled this what I can only describe as a tarantula ( I know it wasn't but just the size was massive)
Was dark black with large abdomen and was sittin on the back wall then I noticed in a small hole another spider a lot bigger a hell of a lot bigger but was a brown colour
Was thinkin male and female but thought females kill the males
Anyway I.d

There are a few common big species that live in walls.
Segestria senoculata fits (see the pic of its web and some pics of the spider itself http://srs.britishspiders.org.uk/portal.php/p/Summary/s/Segestria+senoculata ) but has a fairly strongly marked abdomen.

Amaurobius similis. They are very common under stones, logs, in walls etc. They are about the size of your thumbnail.

Definately not this one
This lad was jet black and wasn't thumbnail size either il upload the pic later when I finish

Had a look at the link you posted and thankfully not as big looking as I was expecting thankfully! I think I would have ran a mile if I saw it though! :eek:
