landing net spreader

Hi. I i wand to buy a spreader for a 100cm wide landing net (39-40inch?). I can see them on ebay but most of them says 42-50 inch (i assume this is its width?). Could someone confirm that it is sort of universal or should i look for one which says 40 inch?
