    Can anyone explain what the Flash at 18 seconds into the video below is about? Did the driver get penalty points? I've heard speed vans flash and was wondering if this is the flash that offending motorist would see from the speed vans.

    It might be the wrong section, but I thought someone here might know if this is the famous flash that offending motorist would see from speed vans on Irish Roads?

    Private vans don't flash afaik.....Garda Vans do

    I've seen that light in low light conditions (dusk) when the car I was a passenger in only had parking lights on.

    I can't offer any explanation what the light is.

    My understanding is that the Van takes a photo of everything that passes. Itdoes not matter if you’re speeding or not it still takes a picture.

    All thephotos are reviewed afterwards. I think it takes photos all the time becausethe government have them monitoring road traffic also.

    I believe there is10,000 hours a month of speeding and 6,000 hours a month of road monitoring.
