So that was 2012 the year of ASO and it went without a glitch. RTÉ spend 1.7 million on advertising Saorview, while the department insisted on spending 2.4million on a lack luster DTT DSO. Somehow their payment of 2.7million to TG4HD in 2011 passed us by and it semi-launched on UPC.

Total spent on DTT ~ 10million

And no news of the Oireachtas Channel or TG4 HD becoming available on Saorview

The Irish Film Board Channel looks even more unlikely

The only saving that I can see in the budget that the Department of Communications will make in 2013 is 2.4million cost of their DTT campaign.

    So the predictions:-

January:- The Minister might get around to asking his department to run a public consultation and the BAI to carry out a industry review of TG4HD, why he has still to simply ask is very, very strange.
February:- If the minister has asked for the above consultations, he will give TG4HD the go ahead.
March:- BAI get of their backsides and launch a new DTT campaign for commerical DTT.
April, May, June, July: - Little happens, Mux 2 remains off the air.
August: - ComReg decide to publish their finding into the cost of carraige (I don't thing they have published this yet????), this coincides with the announcement that Commercial DTT won't happen this year or next and a full review will need to be carried out.
September: - If the minister hasn't asked for the consultations on TG4HD he does now after the BAI report back to him on Commercial DTT.
October: - As Mux 2 remains of the air, TG4 HD launches officially on UPC.
    November: - A general election....

    Happy Christmas
