The fixed slide is very economical.. the problem is that it isn't half as fun as a blowback. the M9's are awesome. I had one for ages (was a KJW OD version) the mags were easy to get and the pistol was very reliable but the seals weren't brilliant. In general I would switch to Co2, especially for the winter. I recently got a TM pistol and it's holding up well in the cold, as they tend to do, but if you're new and only getting into it, I wouldn't really recommend jumping straight into the expensive stuff.

    as for Co2 pistols:
-A kjw m9: I had one for ages, got mine out of Hobbyairsoft, amazing pistols, never let me down. you could get the WE one but I prefer KJ works :
    - KWC/KJW 1911: 1911's are amazing and they look nice. the KWC is a very nice replica and has a flush mag system, unlike all other 1911's but the mags are a pain to get, the KJW mags are a bit easier to get hold of
-then you have the likes of a desert eagle and all the other completely useless and impractical sidearms :p.

In general if you're happy with the less realistic aspect of the sidearm, get a fixed slide one as it will stick with you, they require less maintenance and are far cheaper to both buy and run. if you want to step it up a notch get the M9. it has the advantage of being able to take green gas M9 mags which is handy for the summer as it saves on money, the 1911's will not take their green gas counterpart's mags unfortunately

    Hi Patrick

On the first point I'll agree with T4RGET that fixed slide pistols are generally more economical then blow back pistols, had a Co2 KWC SP2022 for awhile and could get five(5) or more BB reloads out of a single Co2 cartridge. With that said, GBB's are far more realistic and have the bang factor :D

About M9's, had a Co2 KJW for ages, it was epic when it worked and found myself replacing the Cylinder, Cylinder Springs and Piston Head not long after getting it, on the plus side many people use these and have no issues

Also, if you are looking for an all year round pistol, that takes Green Gas and Co2, is cost effective to buy and run + goes bang everytime, the STI Tac Master 1911 by ASG is an excellent pistol, here is a video about it:

To date, I've had / used many 1911's and this is one of my favourite skirmishing pistol, as it has many improved features over other 1911's, with tactical grips, double stack mags and amazing range + accuracy ;)
