Tax Clearance Certificate

Started new employment in the last couple of weeks and they are looking for a tax clearance certificate. Before that I was working for 5 months, but for the first few months of the year I didn't work at all but put on my CV I was working as didn't want to leave any blanks.

Will a tax clearance cert tell the new company if I wasn't working and in fact claiming the dole during that period?

It's a tax credit certificate you need not a tax clearance cert. Your won't get one for 2012 at this late stage as the tax year is nearly over.
Register your new employment with Revenue and a cert for 2013 will issue. It will not contain any details for 2012 as its a different tax year.
