I work Mon/Thurs/Fri and as Christmas and new year are both on Tues/Wed I am just wondering what my holiday entitlements are?

    From citizens information:
    Part-time employees
If you have worked for your employer at least 40 hours in the 5 weeks before the public holiday and the public holiday falls on a day you normally work you are entitled to a day's pay for the public holiday. If you are required to work that day you are entitled to an additional day's pay.

If you do not normally work on that particular day you should receive one-fifth of your weekly pay. Even if you may never be rostered to work on a public holiday you are entitled to one-fifth of your weekly pay as compensation for the public holiday.

In all of the above situations your employer may choose to give you paid time off instead of pay for the public holiday.
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employment/employment_rights_and_conditions/leave_and_holidays/public_holidays_in_ireland.html

so in your situation, assuming that you always work these three days and have met the 40 hours in the last 5 weeks criteria, then you would be entitled to either 1/5 of your weekly salary or 1/5 of a day off for each of the public hols, 25th and 26th.

So in simple terms if you earn €200 per week for your 3 days work, then you get and extra €80 for Christmas week (€40 per day for each day). Or if you are given it in time off, if you work 22.5 hours over 3 days, then you would get 9 hours off (4.5 hours for each day.)

Oooh interesting! I would of course prefer the cash but think I will have to do with the time off! I have been here a couple of years and always work them days so definitely due some time off. Thanks so much for the information :)
