Been a while since I posted in this forum but I thought some folk here might be interested in these photos.

I'm a tillage farmer, in REPS and one of the elements of my plan is 2.5HA of LINNET, there are various options for LINNET crops but the one I use is a mixture of Oats and Linseed.

I hadn't been down to the crop for a while so this morning took a walk down there with my camera, I was amazed by the amount of birds feeding there, from the various small species to literally thousands of pigeons and crows along with an opportunist sparrowhawk and a couple of buzzards.

That's fantastic - probably a few Yellowhammers and Brambling amongst the finches too.

Yellowhammers are common enough round here, I would imagine there's some Brambling in among the Chaffinches, they're wary enough and hard to get close to.

We've been planting game crops for pheasants for the last few years and we get huge flocks of finches feeding in them - Chaffinches, Yellowhammers, Goldfinches, Linnets, Bramblings etc. Its amazing how many birds can get a whole winters feeding out of a half acre of game crop.
