Best heating option for old farmhouse/ holiday home?

Hi - thinking about possible heating options for a 100 year old stone farmhouse with no central heating. House to be used as holiday home- mainly in summer months, circa 90 days per year. Approx 1100 sq ft/ 6 rooms. Will be installing external insulation, double glazing & insulating attic.

Rather than going through possible extra complexity with installing oil, digging up floors etc would it be advised to install more modern electric heaters - like Lucht heaters and use them in combination with solid fuel stove? Budget is extremely tight.

Although these heaters look interesting, I am concerned about having to rely on immersion/ electric showers for water heating- though might consider solar if grants are still available next year

Or should I just go with oil for all heating needs?

Try looking at Farho heaters. Excellent and economic. They also have an optional extra remote controller to operate them remotely. The thermostatic range is worth the extra.

If you are doing a renovate on the property at least put in the pipe work for radiators.

Later you can have the option of heating with oil, solid fuel, biomass or other. Keep your options open. 6 rooms 6-7 rads. Solid fuel stove should heat them easily if installed correctly.

If you have a good heating system you may find yourself using the holiday home over the winter as well.

Price for both I cannot image much of a difference in cost.
