As a bit of market research,I would like to ask, which is more important to a B&G when choosing a videographer. Price or quality of work?

Also what price range you were looking at?

The obvious thing would be to try to strike a balance. We all like a bargain, but if something's too cheap, then it must be for a reason!

For me, it would be quality of the product, not necessarily the price. We paid E900 four years ago for our DVD and got three copies. Excellent video, well presented and worth the price IMO.

What exactly would be in the package?

absolutely a balance. Look at 10 videographers, mark them out of 10. Let say you only want anyone who comes in at 7/10 or higher.
If 1 guy is 1000e at 7/10 and another guy is 1500e at 8/10. Can you justify the extra 500?

Do the same for all your providors.

Very difficult decision for B&G. Prices vary hugely! I have seen very fancy videos and then more budget ones on my recent investigations. I think its down to budget and preference.. One of my sisters paid 1.2k and the other paid 450e. The difference was the 450e video was shorter and missing all the drunk ppl :) and there was no highlights section.

obviously there has to be balance, if your looking at elaborate cinematic setups that require three or four camera operators the price is going to be premium smaller one person operations usually are cheaper without some features, you cant have many angles and cutaways with a single cam!!

I think for lots of couples in these austere times the days of exorbitant weddings are long gone.Prices these days must be negotiable.

    :)

For us price was the main factor. We weren't on a really tight budget but equally we knew we'd likely look at it once or twice and put it away, and only watch it to have a laugh in years to come with the kids or on a big anniversary. We wanted someone reputable so went on word of mouth and online reviews, and got a good deal. Its not the best DVD ever made, but for what we paid we're delighted with it. If we had a larger budget, we might have pushed the boat out.

The photos were a higher priority for us, we spent three times what we spent on the DVD on those and it was worth it, the photos are brilliant.
