Handed in my application for my full licence in Dublin (Queen St) last Friday. Does anyone know how long one would have to wait to receive in the post? And of course I'm leaving for Christmas holidays in 5 days..

    Thanks!

I left mine in Queen Street and had it back in under a week.

I know, but off abroad for Christmas and wanted to drive while there, hence the nail-biting wait!

The €25 one sounds better than the €55 one.

Jesse Ventura??:D Seriously though the card is much better for I.D purposes especially in the States. Last time I showed my licence in a bar I thought they were going to burn me at the stake! "Eh what is this sir? My driving licence? Please leave Sir" B*stards! Plus it fits much better into the ole wallet.

Each to their own but I'd apply for one if I could but I have to wait until 2018 to renew!

Regarding your comment earlier about driving abroad over the next few months. If you are thinking of hiring a car you may have a problem as most hire companies require someone with licence for minimum of 6/12 months . As far as I know this will be whether you are the hirer or just going to drive the car. Best of luck anyhow whatever happens.

Going back home so hoping the family would supply some form of transportation. However the 12 month rental "ban" is slightly annoying
