Be careful with these cold nights and water instead of coolant....

Same happened to me in an 07 tdi octy two years ago, was using/losing smallish quantities of water every day or two. I was really busy and kept postponing bringing it to garage. Couldnt see any puddles under it.

Then the cold snap hit. And there was no g12 in it. It all froze solid, and thankfully i realised.

Took the garage til the new year to thaw it all out. Turned out only to be a weepy waterpump, so wasnt losing anything when not running.

I was lucky, if id ran it, it would have cost a lot. Book it in.

Check water pump for leaks other than that I think you've already diagnosed it.

Check is there a a dark smokey stain on the coolant bottle and also if you had access to a pressure tester, if the coolant system goes above 9kpa (17psi) it's usually head gasket.
