    Hi Konkers,

Any interest in vintage steel frames? I have a black 1985 21" Mercian Reynolds 531 - beautiful lugs! I also have a Hercules frame primed for respray which would suit a fixie. I have most of the other parts you require. I'm based in Cork but in Dublin fairly regularly.

    Best wishes,

    Brendan

I have a full carbon BH frame and forks with headset. 52cm compact, suited me OK and I'm 5' 5. It's seen a fair few kms and has a few scratches and scuffs, but it's in good nick in general. I guess I'd be looking for about €175 for it?

I have a La Jeune 'Champion du monde" Racer. I'd say late 70's / early 80's. The frame is in really good nick, has drop handle bars and forks with it, plus Shimano 600 Arabesque Gear levers (they're beautiful), also has some campagnolo components on it. I was going to fix it up over time with so vintage parts, but have started work on another bike so don't think i'll have the time. í'm around the €170 - €180 mark too on the frame a bits and pieces... let me know if you'r interested.

    Hi Brendan,
Thanks a million for the reply. Really appreciate it. I'm looking to build up a road bike (cheaply) for my wife. In order to that, I need to be able to do the build, source the parts and maintain it myself. I've fairly limited / zero experience doing this but I have a work stand, toolbox and youtube.
For simplicity I've decided to stick to something pretty modern because the parts should be more available, I can take some spares from my one and only bike (when the begin to look shabby;)) and its all more familiar.
I'm sure you'll find a more appreciative home for the "beautiful lugs" - What exactly is a "lug" in Cork?
    Anyway thanks a million.

Wonderboy9, ditto as for reply to Brendan above (i.e. thanks a million but looking for something mopre modern).

    Wav1,
Unfortunately €200 is out of my budget. I'm thinking a frame for 100+. because its for my wife and there is a danger it could sit in the garage after the build and I don't want to see it and imagining the money sitting there  (if you know what I mean). Plus I have a couple of other bits a pieces to get.
Unless you have a few other bits a pieces? PM me your mobile if you are willing to negotiate. Otherwise thanks for taking the time.

    One time,
Is this 100% safe i.e. never crashed?
Are you including stem and bars in the "headset"?
Could you send me geometry (52cm could be too big) and pics?
    Where are you based?
Thanks a million for taking the time to reply also.:)

I have an ITM bars and stem(worth over 80e new) I'd let go for 40euro plus p&p. Also have 2 oversized stems, a GT alloy 100mm one and a Truvativ 120mm. Looking for 15 for each.

It's a second hand bike, so can't 100% guarantee it's never been crashed I'm afraid. It has done a fair few kms (5 years old) and to put all my cards on the table i just noticed it seems to have developed some "Bubbling" in the paint on the fork crown in the months it's been hanging up.

No stem and bars I'm afraid - just the bearings inside the head tube.

On size the seat tube is 44cm centre to centre, and the effective top tube length is 53cm, so it's equivalent to about a 51cm or 52cm in old money, which should really be for someone a bit taller, about 5"8. I used it for 18 months without major problems, although I did sometimes get some cramp in my shoulders on long spins which I don't get on my new frame which is slightly smaller.

    I'm based in south Dublin.

    Cheers!

    Hi Konkers,

My Hercules frame & fork, would it suit? It's a 55cm (21.5") steel frame, it's primed for respray and I can also give you stem and bars. You'll need a 25.4 seat post. In Dublin Tuesday, Brendan

    Brendan,
thanks a million for the post.
Unfortunately I think a 55cm is too big.

    Hi Konkers,

I am selling the Alu frame and carbon fork from a Focus Variado Expert - size small (52cm). I'm 5.6 and it fit me.

I just stripped it down as buying a frame/fork for commuting with mudguard and rack eyelets. There are a few marks on the frame from lock holder on the downtube and one scratch from another bike leaning against it on the top tube but no crashes or other damage to report.

Here's a link to the full bike.

    http://www.thebikelist.co.uk/focus/variado-expert-compact-2010

    I'd sell for €175 ono.

Let me know if you've any interest.

    Cheers

    Hi Konkers,

I acquired a 54cm touring bike, maybe not exactly what you had intended, but would make for a very comfortable ride and offers possibility of touring/commuting as well as sportive riding. As usual with my stuff it's steel, but possibly would suit your budget! This machine is built but could also be compatible with more modern parts.

Hopefully you'll come up with something.

    Best wishes,

    Brendan
