    Hi,
So for the last 12 mths I have had a clean provisional license.
Unfortunately, this morning I crash into a person driving a car worth approx 5k.
In the crash my own car has been wrote off and i have damaged a light and a front bumper to the driver it looked like a 1000 euros worth of damages. This is my first year motoring and my insurance last year was approx 1200 euros.

I was wondering if any one from past experience had any advice on this matter and be able to give me a rough estimation of what my insurance on 1 or 1.2 litre petrol car be this year.

Unfortunately,i hit her due to the poor conditions on the road. Thankfully, the other driver appeared to be ok.

And above all, I relished what is really important in life and urge other motorists due to extra extra care on our roads.

    Thanks for reading

It doesn't sound like a lot of damage, Is there any chance she'd let you pay to get her car fixed without going through insurance. Ask her to get a quote and then weigh up what you want to do.

The premium will rise considerably for sure.

Were you alone when the crash occurred, or was there a licenced driver with you?

    What have your insurers said?

Why don't you go through the estimations on insurance websites?

only real advice is to ring around the insurance companies /brokers if you want to get a realistic quote, for what it's worth id imagine it will be very dear

If you put through a claim on your policy because of this, it's highly unlikely that any other insurer will even talk to you. You'll be stuck with your current insurer for the next few years and at the mercy of whatever they feel like charging you.

If you were driving alone when this happened (i.e. without a fully licenced driver accompanying you) your insurer may also turn around and sue you for part or all of the payout since you were driving illegally. You will need to check the fine print on your policy at this point.

If you hit her car hard enough to write your own one off you'll be lucky to cause €1000 of damage. Modern cars are designed to give with impact, so what looks like a bumper and light could be a full front end rebuild. If you think her car is worth 5k,the insurance company won't and will more than likely right it off.

No one can know what you're insurance will be, I can check 5 days in a row and get different quotes. You're on a permit with a crash it ain't going to be cheap, you'll have no NCD and a claim against you.

ye initially i taught that but a knew of someone a few years back that was in a similar situation to mine and was quoted 3.5k on a 1.6 im told in year 2.
They say the costs are spread out over a number of years.
