An appeal to a new Irish Leader.(whomever he or she may be)

An appeal to our future leader. Having listened to the shocked reaction of radio listeners to this budget and reading the huge anger and dismay which ordinary people are voicing, I couldn't help thinking that now, right now,is the opportunity that our future leader - whomever he or she may be- should take to start rising above the parapet of sheepish apathy that our nation has become and lead us into action. We have indeed become a " Nation of **** Takers" to quote a certain individual. We have become so self absorbed in our own lives, furiously and fearfully trying to hang on to whatever decency or proud little lives we manage to eek out without upsetting the status quo. The old " What will people think" or "someone else will" adages will not cut it anymore and now, above all else, is the time to do something, anything in order to get the attention of those who are willing to destroy, not only our lives, but the lives of our Children. As I write this, I see a paltry few protesting outside the Dail and in Ennis thinking that they will make a difference. They don't. The plainly worded fact is that the Government and senior civil servants don't give a flying fcuk about you and the fact that you can't pay for oil, or bread, or Christmas decorations, or milk, or run the electric heater, or miss lunch because you can't afford it, l these seemingly little things that will build and build ending in the destruction of any bit of pride or humility we may have. All this while the likes of Mr Hogan cuddles up to his press Secretary in Doha on OUR money, or while your local Labour or Fine Gael TD enjoys his or her pint or meal tonight without a care in the world. Well, it boils down to two words... Agenda and Perception. And our new leader, who will need to put together his or her new party needs to get this truthfully correct from the start...We, the ordinary,Joe Soaps...labourers, farm workers, chippies, factory workers, counter workers in banks or councils, low ranking gardai, nurses, home helpers, house wives and house husbands, out of work but trying to get work.....etc, etc.. should be top of your Agenda, not seniors Civil Servants, not Troika, not Bond Holders. These terms mean nothing to us..which brings me to my second point. All our government parties are two center based. Therefore there is no extreme left or extreme right and I would say to our new leader you can win our support by being two things... Be PERCEIVED to be truthful and be PERCEIVED to be bold. When asked the question, answer it truthfully, when called upon by greater powers to do their bidding, tell them NO, because, despite what political commentators say, It IS time to be populist and it is time to create the Perception that we are not taking this crap any more. So, where is our Larkin, our Big Fella, our Kennedy, our Ghandi, where ever you are, please make yourself known beacause now, more than ever, Ireland Needs you. finally, I will say to those of you who are in power. Make the most of it, because a change is coming, and you will never darken the door of Dail Eireann again. It is only a matter of time before we, the ordinary people of this Country, stop allowing you to sleep well at night. Shame on you All, and shame on us all for not standing up to them.

Blinding flash of obvious: It's not comparatively that bad. I mean compared to what we have previously had, it's horrible. But we're nowhere near as bad as Greece. We don't have riots in the streets, the elderly starving, facist thugs gaining political support and assaulting people in broad daylight. Apathy has something to do with it, anywhere else and there would be more of a backlash, but we will get through.

*Don't quote me, this is just MY view, I'm not going to get involved in debate*
