Animal pet cage.

I am trying to gather material for making a cage for my pet chinchilla. Does anybody know where a person could get the Mesh wire for doing this. It does not have to be mesh but just small enough to keep the chinchilla inside not wider than 1.25 inch apart. I googled the web for this stuff but cant seem to locate anything close so help urgently required. Or maybe somebody could point me in the direction of somebody who is good at this game;).

Chicken wire can be easily bitten/gnawed through, if the animal in question is so inclined. Might be better off with welded mesh.

Thanks fergal.b but that is poultry wire and is weak enough to chew through it nd thin enough to cause damage. The wire will have to be fairly rigid and around gauge 16(1.6mm) for this little fellow as they like to jump off the side of walls.

I see the wire on this site and it looks good. Its a pity the 13mm hole size is only gauge 19. I don't know would it be strong enough? it is the only supply I have come accross so far.

That's 22 gauge, lighter again than 19.

Same place has 1" x 1" 16 gauge. Local builders' providers, DIY shops, co-ops etc. should have this kind of stuff.

That looks like the correct one, good man. Good thing about this is I can pop in and get a look and feel of it before I have to buy it. I hate buying blind because they doll things up so well and the end result can often be very disappointing.
