Hi everyone, I work (with a casual contract) in the Aviva Stadium, I am on ten euro an hour, and so far all my pay has been taxed at around half the total, i.e. I got 70 euro, but got taxed nearly 35 euro.

I technically have a part-time job all year round, but in reality it's only for a month during christmas do I work in this other job.

Is this right? What do I do or where do I go to sort this out? thank you all. :)

Contact the nice people at www.revenue.ie ... you'll find phone numbers on their site.

You may need to tell them your employer registration number.

If youv'e done it in other years too, then they may send you a cheque ....

Not sure, I suppose there is one main manager, Alan, for me.

What company though? What do you do? Do you work in a Bar for Compass? A Steward?

You need to allocate some of you tax credits to this second job. Simple enough thing to do and they are very helpful on the phone. You can get yourself set up for PAYE online too, which is their online self service tax thingy. Its very easy to use and you can do all your bits on there without having to ring, be put on hold etc.

If you have been working that job for a few year ring asap and ask for a P21 balancing statement for the years you were there. If you have overpaid tax, this is how it will be refunded. There is a 4 year limit so if you were there in 2008 you'll need to get that p21 request in before 31st December or any refund for 2008 will be lost. You can get the p21 for every other year since then from them too.

Its a P21 you are looking for not a P60. Get your request in for 2008 asap. You can send them an email if you do not have ROS set up already. If I were you I wouldnt bother allocating tax credits for the Aviva job(unless you are earning very little in your other job) if it is only for the month of December, you can claim back the tax in January and if you are earning less than 18,300 p.a you can also claim back for any PRSI you paid.

I don't know where ye got the idea that this is a 2nd job for the OP ... my guess is that s/he's a student and this is his/her only job.

Also PAYE workers use PAYE-Anytime, not ROS.

That said ... Revenue is still the place to go. I'd ring rather than email - they cannot email you back with any personal information (eg questions like "how do you want credits from xxx allocated") because email (unlike voice conversations :) ) is not secure.

Maybe im reading it wrong but from below I thought of the second job. It would also explain the sticky tax situation. Ah shur eitherway once the op gets his money back:)

Hey everyone thanks for the all the comments really appreciate it!

I am a student and have only been working in the Aviva since this August! I only make like 2000 euro p.a. does this matter? I'm gonna call as soon as I'm finished this semester. :)

    Again, thank you everyone!

Only making 2000 helps a lot. You will get (almost) all the tax back ... but you may have to wait until next year, unless you get paid by the stadium again at least a few days after you've called Revenue.

For future reference, every time you get a job:
    1) get the employer to tell you their registration number
    2) call Revenue yourself, and they will get your tax credits right for the job.
Even if the employer calls on your behalf, make sure that you call too, in case they have any doubt about what else you've earned that year.

Also, every time you leave a job, make sure you get a P45, and send a copy to Revenue. Big employers will always do this for you, but with smaller ones there can be silly delays.

Thank you, I was planning on waiting until after christmas to call, I'll take your advice too!
