Hey been doing a lot of research about the oild fields/rigs in Canada. Unfortunely we don't have any such area of work we have a few underground mines, mining for zinc and lead. My uncle worked at one of these until recently but they are in there final stages and not hireing from the contacts he has rang. i would really like to get in to rig work i no it will be hardship and i will get a bollexing but i don't mind anything to get on a rig and get the start. So just wondering if anyone is in this field of work where would be the area to head for ? fort mcmurry? i no the Hibernia field off Newfoundland/Labrador is one of the worlds largest offshore oil dwellings. and also Saskatchewan has lots of rigs. just wondering if you could recommend the best chance of being taking on as lease-hand? thanks :D

Why not stay closer to home and work on the rigs off the coast of Scotland? I hope you're a big lad who can handle a drink.

Fond memories of Kennoway miners club and the lads off the rigs - I've never had worse hang overs.

ye will find it hard or impossible to get on a rig if ye only have a 1 year visa.

ya but it's working holiday visa that you have which you have 1 year and you apply for an extra year when your over there,

i'm not saying it's impossible but company's won't look at you with this type of vise for that type of work, but if you do know somebody high up in there who knows.

no mate its changed from 2013 on.all you have to do is apply once and if you are successful you will be granted a visa for 2 years so no need to reapply after first year is up which is great:D

Bolloks. Industry is booming. Personnel people are not thinking more than 2 months ahead at the moment, only concerned with filling the slots for the next rotation.
