Bus Eireann drivers who are always late

Does anything ever happen to drivers who are always running late?

I had the pleasure of coming across the slowest driver in BE I imagine.

Tuesday he arrived nearly 20 mins late at my stop and by the time he got to liffey valley he was 25mins behind schedule.

Yesterday he was on the 4.30pm Dublin to Edenderry and no where to be found.

The 5pm bus was there just before 4.30. Shortly after 4.30 another BE bus arrived as a mechanic dropped it off but made a few calls and off he went.

Around 4.45pm the 5pm driver came as I think he felt sorry for all the people getting soaked and let us all on. Next thing 4.50pm the 4.30 bus passes us by.

I am sure everyone who gets the 120 knows this driver. Never smiles, says hello, thank you. Just sits in his seat and mumbles if a sound does come out of him.

I have yet to be on a bus which he drives were he is on time.

If he is unable to keep to the timetable he shouldn't be driving the bus.

Do BE ever keep a record of how drivers are performing with the realtime information available? If they did would they ever comment to the driver that is he always running late and he got x amount of complaints this year?

Even with a 10 min head start we still managed to catch up with him at Straffan and we weren't on time. It is not unusual to be a few mins late in the evening getting out the city but even without traffic this driver would be late.

    Rant over

Every single time he is late send a complaint to bus Éireann and a copy email to the NTA.

To be honest I have yet to come across a bus eireann bus that is on time. What do they expect when they have ridiculous schedules that expect them to drive about 30 miles in 15 minutes with heavy traffic etc.

I was in Busaras tonight and the Galway bus was seriously delayed because the bus had been late into Busaras from Galway so the driver was late on his break and then late back to work for the return trip to Galway. This happens several times a day but unless people complain about it nothing will be done!

The commuter service is pretty good in the morning. 1st bus is on time nearly everytime.

Monday morning and 1st day of the month I can accept a few mins late as a lot of people buying tickets.

If I see this driver on a certain bus I would avoid it for the week as not worth the delay.

So sick of one driver on the 109a route who is constantly late. He's usually 5/10 mins late arriving and is the slowest driver, takes him 15/20 minutes longer than other other bus driver to arrive at the airport. When I see he's driving the bus, I know I'm going to be late for work
Do many people complain about bus drivers?

Well,at least one does...on here at any rate

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Sorry meant to say, does anyone send complaint emails to Bus Eireann? Or is it a complete waste of time?

    My last complaint

I refer to your email dated 6th December 2012 and regret any inconvenience caused to you while availing of our 120 service recently.

I was disappointed to note the difficulties experienced by you while availing of our service. Commuter services are reviewed on an on-going basis and I would like to assure you that every effort will be made to provide the best possible service to customers within the resources available to us. In addition, I have brought this matter to the attention of the Regional Area Supervisor and have instructed him to monitor this situation.

On behalf of Bus Eireann, I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Now if they actually do anything is another thing

I'm just sitting on the 103 into Dublin and know I'm going to be late yet again, so was googling Bus Eireann complaints and came across this- it's word for word the response I got from one of my complaints (I've been sending a few over the last few months!), just substitute the route number!
They really don't seem to do anything, even when a bus doesn't turn up ( and the next bus isn't for another 3 hr 45 min) you just get an apology- I was hoping to at least get a free bus ticket from that one :-)
I have started taking details of times and will put together a letter with everything from the past few months and send it to the Regional Manager, the NTA and a few TDs, though I know it's highly unlikely anything will change.
