Is it time for RTE 1 and 2 (Don't understand why they changed from Network 2 to RTE 2). Is it not time for more and more new stuff on RTE 1 & 2 for years stuff like Friends, Father Ted, and not sure what else have been brodcasting for the past 5 - 10years but does it cost much for RTE to buy in new stock from the states and UK?

But by saving so much money by showing repeats all the time they can keep paying the well deserved salaries to their world renowned megastars while still keeping the TV license fee low.

    Oh, hang on.

Gone are the days of RTE being able to wait and see whats popular and just buying proven shows like they did with Lost. People want their new shows the same week as the USA. Even for a small country, new shows are expensive, especially considering most of them fail.

And perhaps they keep showing golden oldies because people keep watching it and that's the bottom line. The Idol, factor, brother crap is possibly the worst form of television known to man. I can't stand it. But morons keep watching it so I just have to accept it. It's the same thing.

I might add that I still find repeats of Friends,Father Ted,Simpsons, etc funny. Maybe they are still good shows?

True Kirby but it would be good to see more and more new shows but you do have a point as the states can be very ruthless to the their own depending on ratings shows can become cancelled after 1 season in the states some even 1 pilot episode. In fairness they have bought in new shows in the past two years but for a good couple of years little new products were being shown at this is before the recession.
