    Hi all.
Im currently thinking strongly of changing career paths and studying psychotherapy. Im 29 years old. Im just looking at the best way of pursuing it.
I have been looking at a course in DCU. Here is the link for it.
    http://www.psychology.ie/BA-Counselling-Psychotherapy.html

It costs roughly 4 grand a year. Its a 4 year course which gives you a BA in Psychotherapy. It seems a bit expensive as only 1 evening a week is spent on campus, with a lot of self work been done. Apparently a qualification from this degree is highly regarded. Also with some pre-requisites you can skip straight through to year 2 ( qualification with the equivalent to HETAC Level 6). Maybe i could do a course to achieve this status, as it would save me a year of my time at least, and a years fees.
But if anyone could give any advice on my best approach. Thanks a million for your time all :)

I'm going to bump this up instead of starting a new thread as i'm interested in this...

Anyone have any experience with this course or know if it's worth doing?

This course is NOT accredited by DCU or Waterford IT - they are only the venues.

"Ati Psychology Institute" was previously linked to Athlone IT who awarded the degree, however there was a split about 18 months ago. Athlone IT took over the running of the course so that students would not be left high and dry. I think some students remained with Ati Psychology Institute and received degrees awarded by the Welsh University.

To enter at year 2 or 3 you will need to already have a Diploma in Counselling...
ATI and Glyndwr University recognise prior learning for credit or exemption on this programme. If you have a Diploma in Counselling or a similar recognised Counselling and Psychotherapy or Addiction professional qualification award, you may be eligible for direct access to Year 2 or 3
