    Hi everyone,

Just moved house an funds are very low. There's no saorview here and because of that I've no TV channels at all... There's a sky dish outside though and a connection downstairs in the sitting room... If I got my hands on a sky box am I right in thinking ill get te free to air channels once I hook it up to my tv? Or is there anything else I need to do??

For ease of use, it's prob best to get your hands on a Freesat-branded box.

The very cheapest freesat options don't have an HD option, while the most expensive give full record-pause-rewind functionality.

You can get even cheaper free-to-air boxes, but these often need retuned and don't have the full 7-day epg that freesat boxes have.

Thanks for that! So would those boxes work with the sky dish that's already installed too?

Yes it will work with the Sky dish. It will only get the UK channels and no Irish ones. However there are loads of free UK channels to watch.

Trying to buy a FReesat branded box is the best thing you could do, as they have a user-friendly EPG, do auto updates themselves if new channels arrive, and are generally fairly reliable.

You night find it hard to see a good range of these in RoI, as Freesat is a UK service and is only available officially in the UK, so your local Argos won't stock any Freesat branded boxes.

But check the Classified or DoneDeal and you should find one.

HEre's the channels you will get with a Freesat box
