If you haven't played this 9 hole beauty in Donegal, you're missing out. Finally got to it this year and was blown away.

That is definitely on the "to do" list!! Any chance of it ever expanding to an 18 hole layout? The 6th does look unreal alright.

Played it twice in the last few years. Was nearly blown away one of the times over the edge. Great course though. Not a place to go and expect to shoot a low score. It's a go and enjoy the place no matter how any balls you lose kind of place.

Apparently some land alongside might be coming on the market, but financial constraints may mean it's implausible.

I've played on this course on and off for the past 20 years as my parents always went on holidays to Cruit. It's a mad little course, with some unbelievable holes and scenery and if the wind gets up it becomes very difficult. It struggles when things dry out and the greens can become very bare, but I only have fond memories of it.

Cruit looks class Kevin, but it ain't got the fences around the greens like Mulranny does! No. 1 in my book for that alone.

For others, Mulranny is a 9 hole links down in Mayo, lovely course, prefab for clubhouse, course is on a farmers land so they have to put fences around the greens to stop the sheep from getting at them.
You get mud balls all year round...a different type of mud ball! :)

Class course all the same. Stunning scenery and a decent 9 holes.

Is this the type of mud you mean?

    And other Mulranny Pics

As ajcurry says - it's a class course, and always worth a visit.

Maybe I need to do a top 50 nine-hole courses: Borris, Carrickmines, Helen's Bay, Connemara Isles, Spanish Point, Castlegregory, Rush, Glengarriff... what else am I missing?

I've been on your Flickr account 100's of times now, how did I miss them. They'll be viewed on dark Monday & Tuesday mornings in future!

Ya, those are the mud balls I was on about! Lift clean and place a few of them and you'll have hair on your chest!

Glencullen not a bad 9 hole to add to the list.

Is Sutton any good - looks a bit too small ?

Could add Lisselan to the list too. Lovely little ourse in West Cork. Only played it once but enjoyed it hugely.

Our extended family holiday for a few days near cruit every August and we play a little tournament in Cruit every year. It's a fantastic place, with the best views of any golf course I've ever played.

The 6th hole has to be seen to be believed. Can play anything from a 9 iron to a 5 wood. And with two teeboxes on it, its different when you play its as the 15th.

Every hole is a challenge. Great course.
