LENOVO E520 hinge and screen problem

    Hi folks just looking for some advice. I bought thinkpad E520 last October from Lenovo.ie and now its developed a serious problem with the left hinge which is pulling off the casing at the back of the screen exposing the screen. I mightn't be explaining this very well.

    I did a quick google search and turns out hinge (especially left side) issues are very common with Lenovos. I only had a 1 year warranty. In hindsight this problem began a few months ago when the left hinge was starting to click on opening or closing but it didn't seem to adversely effect the day to day working of the machine so i left it :(

    So my questions are do i have any comeback with Lenovo?
    I bought the laptop from Lenovo.ie and they have a dublin number even though they are clearly not an irish company.

    Do any of my Irish consumer rights apply?

    What the hell am i going to do?! I couldn't afford a photo of a replacement laptop at the moment not to mention the real thing. The timing of this sucks big time.

    Thanks in advance for any advice

    Just realised this might better fit under consumer issues so mods feel free to move if you think the same. Cheers

    Straight answer..if last October means 2 months ago..it's still under warranty...if you are talking about Oct 2011 then it is out of warranty...you can get it fixed...it can be strengthened as long as the base screw holes are still intact..this is common in a lot of laptops..people think portable means unbreakable but unfortunately that is not the case...after 12 month warranty it is hard to fighe but contact the www.nca.ie and get advice (-;

    cheers, it was 2011. There was a screw missing at base of screen so kindof replaced that and it has made a big difference
