Do i need a deer licence before applying for a firearms?

    Im applying for a licence for a rifle & on the form its asks do i intend to use the firearm to hunt and kill exempted wild mammals & if yes i need a copy of the relevant licence. So do i need to get my deer licence before applying for the rifle or what way does it work. Thanks

    You need to apply to the national parks and wildlife for the deer licence and give them the details of the firearm you intend to use. When you get the licence from them you can then apply for your gun licence.

    You should have it in a few weeks as the season is currently open. If it was closed they don't normally send them out till July or August

    What type of rifle ? Calibre ?

    No had a .243 few years back but was before the new licence so am a bit confused now lol have a .22 aswell

    just get the hunting permit and then apply for the gun licence. its the same whether its you first or rifle or not. :)
