3 series comopact, 1800 engine, checked with a code reader, P1345, cylinder 2 mis fire, fuel cut off.

Fuel cut off as from ECU or faulty injector or associated?

    Has anyone any experience....

About to carry our compression test to make sure it's not internal.

    Cheers

Most BMW systems cut the fuel to the cylinder with the misfire to prevent damage to the cat etc, hence the fuel cut off part of the code.

Likely cause is a faulty, wrongly gapped plug, failing coil or a wiring problem to the coil.

The only problem, I swopped the coils between numbers one and two sylinder and the misfire stayed on number two cylinder.

As soon as I get a moment, I was thinking of swopping injectors... then into the wiring.

New sparl plugs and again.. swopped those to make sure nothing silly was hppening. Misfire still on number two cylinder.

Thanks guys, any info is greatly appreciated.

Somebody mentioned, a common problem.... if the engine has stood for a whiole, , lack of oil pressure to the timing chain tensioner can cause the chain to jump a tootk... but the mis fire is only on number two cylinder.
