Will USC ever actually go?

    While I didn't expect them to do away with it this budget do you think it will ever end?

    It'll be merged into "general" PAYE at some point and possibly reduced, depending on economic circumstances. Not going anywhere for a while.

    The USC was never meant to be temporary. It replaced the health and income levies, which were, uh, temporary.

    "Temporary" tax always means that "we're going to rename it at the next budget and make it permanent". Income levy became USC. HHC became property tax. There's no such thing as a tax that they take for a little while and then scrap.
