The kids are big into it (and so am I:D). If I remember rightly last year the tv (for us) was rubbish so I think he put on Braveheart DVD....

The only show I am really looking forward to on Christmas Day is the return of The Royle Family (BBC1, 9.45pm) I know it has been a bit cartoonish in recent years but it always goes down well on the big day. We missed it last year.

Doctor Who Christmas Special (though it'll most likely be Stephens Day before I get a chance to watch it)
    Downton Abbey Christmas Special

& Christmas Day cannot be let pass without a viewing of "It's a Wonderful Life".

I hope Michael Collins will be shown over the Christmas on RTE

Maybe not Xmas day, but definitely over the Christmas period I hope to stumble across The Great Escape and Gone With The Wind. Have missed both of them the last few years, but just in case they are not being shown, I'm downloading them as we speak.

Does anyone actually get to watch anything on Christmas Day apart from bits of programmes? I could probably watch a complete programme were I to tell the rest of my family to "shut the fuck up", but that wouldn't be in the spirit of Christmas, would it?:(

Best tv watching is probably done after dinner when everyone is too full up to talk or move. Of course it's better if what you're watching doesn't involve much thinking. :)

Doctor Who for me as well(partially for Jenna. :D). And maybe half watch Up. Saw it in the cinema. "Squirrel!?"

Any nice Disney or traditional Christmas-y movies that might be on, although I probably won't sit down to watch them right through from start to finish.

Downton Abbey Christmas Special. That, I will not miss.

That's about it. If any bloody soaps are on I'm out of the room.

    RTE1 at 9.30 - 00.20 on Jan 1st

E4 at 8.00 - 11.15 on Jan 2nd (edited for language and violence)

The BBC will be banking on their Call the Midwife Christmas special at 7.30pm on Christmas Day.

The first series of this was the most successful new drama series on BBC1 since 2001.

when you edit out the non-stop soaps from 5pm, it doesn't leave a lot else to watch. (in terrestrial tv land)
Downton Abbey is the only thing I'd be bothered about on X-mas day.
If there is a decent film, great, but stopped planning out the viewing years ago.
1st time in the in-laws house for Christmas Day so a bit of unchartered territory on the tv front.

Oh yes, that's another one I definitely want to see, as I really enjoyed the series. Will likely end up watching it on catch-up though.

Does that mean they are adding in 25 minutes of language and violence? I never realised there was such a big difference in ad lengths between channels

I'll be watching 'It's a wonderful life' (TV3 1235), The Snowman (from DVD or record) and then the new sequel "The Snowman and the Snowdog" (Ch4 1355).

    Beyond that I don't think there's anything.

Love love love the royle family, just thinking about Jim's antics the year he 'broke' his ankle has me in tears laughing
My dad says Jim is his hero , which possibly explains a lot about me
So for me it's all about the laughs :)

Looking forward to The Royle Family on BBC1. We'll definitely be watching that. Also, Miranda Christmas Special on St Stephen's Day should be brilliant- I'm looking forward to that. :)

I've already arranged things with my Dad, on Xmas day we're going to watch all three Godfathers films in a row (yes even part 3) and drink slabs of Guinness. I'll really looking forward to it.
