I dont give a sh1t about where a car comes from ,ZV ZW or ZX makes no difference to me . This country NEVER manufactured Cars in the real sense. I just know what I love . My problem is ----MGs ----Rusty ones , concourse ones ordinary ones , basket cases.I love to touch them , smell them, kick them, and cuddle them !!! It costs me a fortune to do them up and put and keep them on the road.I dont care where the come from ,or where they will end up. I just `LOVE working on them.I"m honored ,to be involved in the process of elongating the lifespan of these wonderful vehicles , so --- will yiz all stop complaining about ZVs and all that rubbish , and just enjoy whats important
THE SMELL IN THE GARAGE !!!!!

did you need to start a new thread with your rant? It's only your opinion and if others think otherwise, then that's tough

I don't care that some people have an preoccupation with reg plates, and I don't believe there's any malice intended towards those of us who opt for something not deemed "correct" (such as fake German decals ;)).

It's no different to my thoughts when I see someone with a set of new "rims" on an old classic. I can vocalise my distaste, but to each their own.

It's just one facet of the classic community that sets us apart from those who insist their cars are under 10 years old, start first time or defog in the mornings.

Obviously to you registration numbers mean nothing, but to many people they are very important.

Personally I think ZV +5 digit plates are an abomination as are 85 D 120000+ plates and such like.

To me a bad number detracts from the car just as much as a bad colour, but at least with the colour you have a chance to re-spray it!

Would you love your MG as much if it were Cerise pink or Neon green instead of Old English white or British racing green?

Or maybe if it had Skoda badges instead of MG?

What about if it had 20" chrome rims with spinners on it?

Choose which one you hate the most of the above and then assume that the government has mandated that that's what you have to do to your car.

Now you might get the picture.

my 924 has black ZV plates but should really have 82 D plates.

Why should it really have 82 D plates? It is pre-1987

Everyone has their own views on stuff.

I'm no MG fan, but I don't make an issue of it.

I don't think the registration system can get any worse at this stage.

    Or can it....

Shortly you will need to get planning permission for a number plate, and it will extend from the A pillar on the driver side all the way around the the A pillar on the passenger side.
And to understand the system in its entirety since 1903 you have to go the college for four years including block release to a relevant government department. It will actually be easier to learn the piano.

    I'm not actually joking.

I think it's hilarious how the govt are changing the registration system to the 131/132 system (hoping that car sales will increase) right at the same time as they're putting up road tax by 7.5% and VRT by god knows how much :D:D:D

I think our friends in FG have been watching the lads in FF for too long :D

Fords of Cork, even one or two Sierras. It was a full plant, not a CKD operation. Now a lot of manufacturers are not so internationalised that little more than assembly might occur in some home country plant. I personally don't mind any plate if it manages not to have offensive blue flag on it.
