Whirlppol AWG 338 Washing machine???!!

Hi, I just moved into a flat with one of these. For some bizarre reason there are 12 different programme settings to chose from, as well as separate knobs for temp., drying etc.! I've searched for manual on net but have had no luck. Why the hell does any machine need 12 different programmes settings? Any suggestions/ideas…

It's just the programs, not a complete manual, but it took all of 1 minute to find on, of all places, the Whirlpool website
