Some of the stations on the list have been closed for years. Mary St limerick is gone at least 10 years. Mc Curtain St cork is boarded up since it was condemned many years ago.
In the same way most of the one man stations were stations in name only.

What districts are been amalgamated? Sorry I just read it, that Cork district is going to be huge, it is taking in an area from Inniscarra in the far west of the city to Midleton 20 miles to the east of the city.

Minister Shatter has shone some light on the cuts in his department, which total €62 million in total. The Garda overtime budget has been cut by €10 million and a further €36 million will be saved in reductions to Garda pay.

You need to read it again.

There is no Cork district. There is the Cork City division, remaining more or less as it is, with some of the Old rural bits being taken in from the old Cobh district.
Cobh and Midleton are then merging into a more logical size district. Made no sense as it was with Cobh having to cover Cobh, Glanmire, Carrigtwohill and Glenville.
In the North West, Mallow and Kanturk districts are merging. The rest of Cork West, Cork North and Cork City remain the same

Actually Mary St is still active, the building is closed, but the local compol unit and Soc unit still work from there. Working from portacabins in the back yard.

You have to remember that those Guards are spread over a number of shifts. So a fraction of that would be on duty at any one time.

Thought they all moved to "New Mayorstone". Has the old station fallen down yet on Mary St?

Sorry goldie fish, I am confused, I do know that Gurranbraher and Mayfield are current District HQ's within the Anglesea St Divisional HQ.

I also know that Cobh and Midleton are District HQ's for the Cork North Divisional HQ, which is Fermoy.

Just reading the paragraph on the amalgamation section, all the four stations are mentioned under the heading of Midleton.

That is where my confusion starts, is it the way so that Cobh & Midleton are been married into one District HQ within Cork North and that Gurranbraher and Mayfield are been married into one within Cork City?

Or is it that bits of the old Cobh district is been broken up and shared out between Midleton, Gurranbraher and Mayfield?

Midleton and Cobh are being merged, but the elements of cobh that were in the city environs are going to Mayfield and Gurrane(Glanmire, Carrignavar, Watergrasshill. Mayfield and Gurrane are not changing.

Once upon time, Passage was in Cobh District... Made no sense having a district HQ on an island with only one road in and out.
Have a look at the map HERE and you'll see that the old cobh district almost wrapped itself around the north city.

That makes perfect sense, by the way when did Glanmire become part of Mayfield's district, i always thought Glanmire was under Cobh?
So Mayfield will now take in Watergrasshill and Carrignavar, again that makes perfect sense considering all the crimes out that way are by guys well known to Mayfield.
What chunk of land will Gurranbraher get?

No they're still there. The station is held together by paint at this stage.

im very much against closing Garda stations but if its just ones like Kill O the Grange etc than its not too bad

DunLoaighre is well capable of looking after those areas
