Anyone know how come she was omitted from the GB team? Injured? Can't find any info (and cant access twitter)

Had a sold track comeback after injury last year with 6th place in the 10k and usually is ggood over the XC would have thought she would have been on the team

Charlotte Purdue hasn't raced since the Cork City Sports in July. She is trained by Mick Woods and there tends to be a high attritional rate with his athletes. Purdue has had serious injury in the past as have a number of Woods' athletes.

Have read the article alright. I was just wondering as I know alot of that stable have had serious injuries in there careers (admittedly I dont think you can blame Twells on this)but just wasn't sure as saw the odd update about running in articles but no actual talk of how training was going or races just got me wondering given the UK and especially her dominance in this event over past few years (maybe dominance is a little strong as she lost to Twell her first year Junior but given age difference still a phenomenal run)

It will be interesting to see how Gorecka progresses and whether her career follows the same pattern. She appears to have avoided the injury plague thus far. She is a remarkable athlete for someone who is still junior again next year.

Purdue is a seriously strong runner but I'm not at all surprised she's injured a lot. For an athlete at her level her technique looks like it would send shock waves up her leg on every stride - over-striding and heel-striking to beat the band (in my very humble opinion obviously!) - http://www.charlottepurdue.com/site_pics/10k.jpg

Charlie raced in Watford a few weeks later and was well beaten by Goreka - think it was 9.12 for Purdue. You spoke of Gorecka avoiding injury this far but it should be noted that Stephanie Twell was also injury free at the same point. I think its unfair to blame Woods coaching on Twell's long term injury- that was freakish.

Interesting Woods brings many girls through junior ranks (running at a decent level - not just jogging) - that seems to be a big struggle here.
